Lest We forget….

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.

Laurence Binyon’s poem For the Fallen, written in September 1914

  1. You were so lucky to see that! We are so near, and yet so far! There have been lots of reports about the poppies in the Tower of London and the queues to see it where enormous. I fear we missed our chance to see it live!

    1. Yes we were very lucky to see this! It’s funny how the closer one lives to something like this the less likely they are to get out and see it. We have many tourists attractions near us and seldom get out to them. This was very moving to say the least.

    1. I have to say it was a very moving moment to see that each poppy represented one life from each commonwealth soldier who payed the ultimate sacrifice during the First World War. It really did cause you to stop and realize the magnitude and tragedy of that conflict. One would hope we truly mean it when we say “never again”.
