16th Century Doorway… An entrance from the past..

In 2007, I took a 15 day cruise of the Mediterranean. One of the stops we made was in Toulon, France. A beautiful town along the southern coast of France next to the waters of the Mediterranean.  Located in the former  province of Provence, Toulon is a gateway to many beautiful and historic wineries. One such winery is  known as Domaine de Souviou. This winery was centuries old, records indicating that it had been in the hands of the family since the 16th century.  As we walked the grounds, camera in one hand, wine in the other, I came across this entrance. The colours of the walls caught my attention, along with the foliage which seemed to perfectly frame the doorway which has stood for over 500 years. I positioned myself… sat my glass of wine down and snapped this.
